Forestry Directorate

The Forestry Directorate is part of the Ministry and performs administrative, supervisory, expert, analytical, operational and other tasks related to the implementation of laws, regulations and other general acts within its jurisdiction, in particular: - preparation of regulations in the field of forestry; monitoring data on the condition and development of forests and informing the public about them; adoption of the county development plan and harmonization of the forest management base with the spatial plan of the county and municipalities; preparation and drafting of forestry programs financed or co-financed from the county's designated fund; exploitation of forests and monitoring the condition of the timber fund; tasks related to the replacement of forest land, forest cultivation and protection; monitoring the implementation of the Integrated Forest Protection Program; preparation and giving opinions for the declaration of protective forests and forests with special purposes, monitoring the condition and degree of forest damage through data from the reporting and alert service; afforestation of degraded and thinned forests, bare areas and karst; ensuring direct forest protection through the guard service; production and trade of forest seeds and planting material while keeping prescribed records; reconstruction and construction of forest roads and protection of springs and watercourses within forests with the consent of the competent authority for water management; hunting and hunting economy; production and trade of secondary forest products (medicinal plants, mushrooms, snails, forest fruits, etc.); program implementation and initiation of scientific research work in forestry; publication of professional and popular publications on the state of forests and their importance and other tasks in accordance with the law and other regulations.
